One area where CBD is clearly helpful: the treatment of seizures associated with one form of epilepsy. A 2017 New England Journal of Medicine study found ingesting oral CBD dramatically cut down most patients’ seizure frequency—a finding that prompted the FDA to support the approval of one CBD drug for use in the treatment of some epilepsy patients.

Looking at results from experimental research, clinical trials, and epidemiological studies, the report’s authors found evidence that CBD may help treat generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. However, the authors caution that human-based research on CBD and anxiety is fairly limited at this point.
I am in Santiago, Chile and have bought Cannabis oil here. It is my first time to try it. I am awaiting shipment from U.S. of CBD oil products. I am using the oil to ally my rather constant low level anxiety that sometimes goes near panic as well as chronic sleeplessness. I have been dealing with this challenge for many years without resorting to standard “Harmapheuticals”. It is my hope the oils will calm me and bring me sleep. I have been trying these local oils for past four days without too much in the way of calming effects. I am taking around 30ml of the oil without real positive results. Do you suppose I may have to go to dosage over 100ml a day to get results? I realize you can not give medical advice nor am I asking for it–but if you can give me general directions it would be very helpful. Thanks, Jack in Chile.
With some of the dreadful reactions I have had to medications I mostly say no to drugs. The psychotropics turn me psycho. I read about addictions and have been through thus…I went off cold turkey with pain medication, antidepressants, anti psychotics, anti anxiety…I do not care to go through anything like that again. If I can get something stronger than an OTC I only want a low dose and do not want to go through what I did in 2010 again. This is where I am currently. Maybe my pain is not as severe as pain is for others. I do know what withdrawal is like and…I have had a good life all in all. I endeavor to be content and learn what I can. I do know what does not work for me.
So am I to assume, due to no response/deleted comment that my simple question was too difficult to answer? With all the technical & correct information you have on you GREAT website, can someone (?) not simply correct or acknowledge the FACT the your NOT using nano-particle size product? I am truly interesting (for my wife) in CBD, have done my research, and I love working with numbers which is why if found this discrepancy. Comments welcome, but avoidance is disturbing.
It’s not just anxiety. Uncontrolled inflammation is also associated with depression and psychotic disorders. Lately I’ve been thinking about combining cannabinoid with low dose naltrexone an opioid receptor antagonist. My thinking is that since CBD also interacts with opioid receptors, as an allosoteric modulator, that by blocking those receptors we may get some novel interactions that I think may be beneficial for anxiety and other inflammatory related disorders.
